Imagine the face of the wind, with his cheeks all puffed up and blowing the clouds into cottony clumps. The sun does its own little dance of colors, sending its light towards the landscape below.

THE LIGHT BETWEEN THE TREES COLLECTION is a collection of whimsical nostalgia, taking you on a journey from the break of dawn until sundown. It speaks of the simplicity and serenity of nature with the ever-present undertone of a storm that is never too far away.

Collection Notes

The Light Between the Trees tells a story from the start of the day, just before dawn breaks, till the sun dips back down below the horizon, and the things we lose and gain again at its end

Early one morning I saw you chasing after the dawn

You rushed towards the sunrise only to realize that everything is still far, near and in between

You take a deep breath to absorb the sunlight onto your skin, and then retreat to the safety of the light between the trees

I look for you, but there’s only a grey sky beckoning at me, while the wind moves the air until it becomes gracious with clouds

And then I realize you exist not only above the surface, but also below, and in the quiet of the afternoon I am always temped to miss

I will catch up to you by the time the eternal touchdown of end of day begins

And I will go back to where I live over the hill

Because that is the road on which I constantly travel

Palettes

Delightful dawn pinks, golden sunrise yellows, deep solid greens and powdery blues create a bright and airy palette for The Light Between the Trees Collection.

Hints of lilac and periwinkle adds a tinge of moodiness to the clouds, with paynes grey possibly motivating for a storm.

Mid-tones include muted olive green, dirty orange and dusty pink.

Together these colors are both playful and soothing to the onlooker and evokes curiosity and calming reassurance at the same time.

Textures

All the artwork in this collection has been carefully painted on either textured 300gms cold-pressed paper, or smoother 300gms hot-pressed paper.

A variety of round and square brushes were used to build up the texture of the clouds and the sky. Loose abstract mark making with a flatter brush creates the illusion of air and light moving through the landscape scenery.

The brush strokes and layers of paint give each piece a unique and rich texture.

Sizing

Original artworks are painted on international paper sizes. There are seven artworks that’s A5 size (148 x 210mm / 5.8 x 8.3 inch), four artworks A4 size (210 x 297mm / 8.3 x 11.7 inch) and three artworks A3 size (297 x 420mm / 11.7 x 16.5 inch). The largest painting in the collection is A2 size (420 x 594mm / 16.5 x 23.4 inch)
